Art history trips

"On the places of impressionism in Normandy".

Impressionism originated in France in the 1860s of the 19th century.

Impression - "impression", was first used by critic Louis Leroy after the publication of a serial about the Salon of the Outcasts.

Our art history trip is devoted to the study of the life and work of artists Alexei Bogolyubov and Eugene Bouden, who served as the forerunners of impressionism and paved the way for two young landscape painters of the next generation - Claude Monet and Vasily Polenov, whose student was the first Russian impressionist, artist, writer, teacher, follower of French impressionism Konstantin Korovin.

We will study the relationships in the history of great Russian and French painters.

The example of Alexei Bogolyubov is unique in Russian painting of the 19th century, which gave great moraine artists, such as I.K. Aivazovsky, who influenced Alexei Bogolyubov in his youth, and Konstantin Korovin was a student of Vasily Polenov, who in turn studied in Paris with Alexei Bogolyubov.

We will get acquainted with the time when in the hierarchy of genres, according to which the landscape was considered as a "low genre", goes into the past. The landscape begins to play a major role in the French painting of the 19th century, there will be artistic debates around it, thanks to its development an impressionist revolution will take place.

We will learn to understand, feel, see not accurate sketches of reality, but IMPRESSIONS from it.

We have to visit the Norman coast with magnificent picturesque beaches, which were captured on their landscapes by A. Bogolyubov, E. Boudin, C. Monet, V. Polenov, K. Savitsky, I. Repin and others are Russian artists.

Deauville, Trouville, Honfleur, Etretat, Veuiles-Le-Roses (Mecca of Russian artists), Giverny.

Carefree resort society: ladies in dresses with crinolines and hats, men in light suits, top hats and a canoeman, sitting in careless poses on folding chairs, dreaming, busy talking and drawing.

Variations of the same plot, endless shades of gray, green and blue tones.

A huge low sky, two thin strips of the beach and the sea, almost merging with the sky on the horizon, rocks, striped beach cabins, bright umbrellas from the sun, low tides.

Light, Color, Atmosphere.

As well as the stories of life and love of great writers, theatrical and cinematographic figures, aristocrats, diplomats, musicians and composers who visited these places, political and intellectual elite.

And as a great addition parks, fish markets, Chateau du Calvados estate, foie gras, mussels, famous Norman cheeses and oysters, champagne, Rose, white and red wines

Healing humid air of the La MANCHE, sun and state of happiness!
